Life Hack: The Importance of Being Happy With Yourself Every Day

07/12/2021 by The Dynamic Mind

Don’t we all want happiness? Happiness is the single most important element to keep our mental state of being on track, nevertheless, we can often find it a struggle to discover or even maintain this element. We will uncover the importance of being happy with yourself every day.

What is happiness?

It is only right if we start from the very beginning and really understand what being happy is and even what it means. It generally comes in all shapes and shapes – most certainly unique to ourselves. For example, one person might find a simple hug from a friend/ family member a happy moment and another may find happiness from planting their favourite summer flower. There is no right or wrong as it all means something different to each one of us.

Generally, being happy relates to an emotional state of positive wellbeing providing a sense of satisfaction by a particular stimulus.

It should be quite simple to identify whether we are happy, as this impacts the energy we give off when engaging with others and how we assess situations.

Time for self-reflection: Have you ever questioned your own happiness? Or do you let situations just pass and carry on?

How to be happy with yourself

Being happy with yourself is an act of self-investing, to assist, try to implement the following methods.

Passion: allocate specific time to do things that you love and are passionate about. Try to incorporate this within your career to maximise your time and personal fulfilment.

Practice gratitude: being grateful for the opportunities that you have and are able to take hold of provides a sense of humbling. In turn, you will begin to feel happy with yourself.

Journal: this goes hand in hand with practising gratitude as we can document all the positive things that are occurring which is a mood booster.

Don’t avoid negativity: neglecting negativity is not necessarily simple to avoid as these environments are part of our day to day lives. We just need to learn how to handle the situation appropriately.

Socialise: make time to socialise with positive mindset individuals, after all, we are social beings.

Exercise: have protected time for yourself to enjoy an activity, relieve stress, either be alone or around others who have a similar mindset – physical & mental benefit.

Smile: even if things are not going our way, just smile. This positive energy will spread happiness to others which in turn will be returned to you.

Get organised: plan the week ahead. There is great satisfaction in knowing where we are heading and this adds to being happy with ourselves.
