There are of course many more and we refined our list to 5 for the purpose of this blog. We would love to hear yours, drop a comment below and let us know.
Positive Mindset
To kick start our journey on how to feel more confident, it is only right to start with the topic of having a positive mindset. Taking the time to reflect on how we are feeling and thinking has an impact on the actions we take. The simple feeling of being happy and having a positive mindset can act in a domino effect by radiating this positive energy to others. With this, we have not only achieved this goal but provided it to many others which is incredibly rewarding.
To further enhance our positive mindset, allocate periods in the week to practice being grateful for the opportunities and experiences we currently have. Utilise a journal and write down 3 things you are grateful for and this will assist in feeling more confident.
Having friends and family who care about you is incredibly beneficial to achieving a positive mindset. This support network can act as a soundboard for any troubles we may have and share success. Through building a support network, this can allow us to clear our minds of any negativity and excel in having a positive mindset.
Let us know below if you find a support network beneficial.
Remove all negative thoughts
Building on having a positive mindset involves trying to eradicate all negative thoughts which enter our hectic minds. Undoubtedly, this can be challenging and difficult to master immediately, however, be kind towards this process and follow our motto: celebrate the small wins.
Each time that we encounter episodes of negative thoughts we should instantaneously write these down and avoid acting in the moment, as we could irrationally respond to the situation, which is not ideal. Pausing and taking a moment to remove these thoughts helps us remain positive and be happy.
Replace the negative thoughts with positive intentions which include replacing:
- I cannot with I can
- I won’t with I will try
- I am stressed with this will pass easily
- I am struggling with I can overcome this challenge
Remember it is a waste of energy to allow negative thoughts to occupy your talented minds. Let’s tackle these occurrences and build on feeling more confident as this impacts our actions towards ourselves and others.
Be kind to others
Through activities such as volunteering where we give to others without the expectation of any return, there is a great sense of purpose and achievement as we are being kind to others. With this, we directly experience a positive emotion which boosts our confidence as we can be proud of these activities.
Even without conducting formal volunteering but simply being kind to others daily, from simply saying “please” and “thank you”, returns kindness which enhances our morals and helps us feel more confident. Disseminating kindness also encourages us at times to step out of our comfort zone, therefore not only doing greater good for humanity, but we are also challenging ourselves, and when accomplished, we feel more confident.
We encounter numerous opportunities to be kind to others throughout the day. Let’s take it one step further and consciously make an effort to be kind to a new person every day. This can be a fun and rewarding challenge to set yourself.
If you decide to commit to this, let us know how you get on over a week/month period and how this made you feel – do you feel more confident in yourself?
Reflect and be grateful
Here at The Dynamic Mind, we focus on mindfulness practice through delivering our Instagram campaign – Mindfulness Monday. This helps us to take a step back from our fast-paced lives and set positive intentions, which is truly powerful. Whilst carrying out this activity, ensure to focus on the positives and be gentle towards any negative, troubling thoughts which may occur.
By taking a moment to be grateful, we appreciate the small and big things that we have in our lives, allowing us to feel a sense of accomplishment. This conscious awareness of where we are at helps us feel more confident, positive and happy.
Through developing our personal confidence, we can be in a position to instil confidence in others, which in return assists in making us feel more confident – this is called a confident loop.
Face your fears
The majority of us tend to shy away from any fears that we may have, leave them aside and try to completely ignore them. Instead, what we should aim to do is challenge these barriers and build a strategy to effectively overcome them, irrespective of how small or big it may be – it is all relative.
Write down the fears, list various tactics to overcome them and think about who you can reach out to for support. Throughout this process, there will inevitably be hurdles and successes, and the greatest achievement is reaching the other end once we have faced the fears. This will bring a positive element and make you feel more confident, mentally stronger, boost morale and you possibly may even have learnt a new skill.
Remember not to tackle these elements with emotion as this could lead to irrational reactions which are not desired. Instead, take some time to apply logic and rationale to the situation.
